444 Miles: A Journey of Love Beyond Distances
How far would a man travel for love? In this story, the distance spans 444 miles. As someone who always has an eye towards the future, I've been fascinated by the limits of technology and the connections it can foster across countries and continents. So, it didn't surprise me when a Canadian artist reached out via Instagram, seeking my expertise to edit her photographs for an upcoming exhibition.
At that point, 2013, Instagram had been my platform of choice for showcasing my creative endeavors. What I hadn't fully grasped was the reach of my work and its potential to touch lives, whether in significant or subtle ways. Our collaboration began with a series of emails discussing the depth and intimacy of her project, and swiftly, we set to work.
Yet, as is sometimes the case, the line between professional collaboration and personal connection started to blur over those three months. Confronted with the realization of our growing emotional bond, we acknowledged that the challenge of long-distance wasn't conducive to fostering a healthy relationship at that moment. Taking a few days to process my feelings and gather my thoughts, I turned to the one outlet that has always offered solace: music.
"444 Miles" was born not as a desperate bid to salvage a potential relationship but as an ode to the profound, albeit brief, moment we shared. It was a celebration of our fleeting yet beautiful encounter, crafted with no expectations, merely a wish to encapsulate that time we spent together. After sending her the song as a parting gift, we concluded our project and continued on our separate paths.
Wherever she may be in the vast tapestry of time and space, my hope is for her wellbeing and happiness, regardless of the distance that lies between us.
444 Miles (Live)
Lyrics
Verse 1
I’m sending you this letters
444 miles away
The vision of your body
Keeps driving me insane
The way the light falls
On your body, baby
(oh, yeah)
The shadows in the curvature
Of your frame
Chorus
You captivate me
And won’t let me slip away, no
And I pray to God
That you feel the same
You captivate me
Girl you take my breathe away
With every photograph
You send my way
Verse 2
I wake up in the morning
Wishin’ you were next to me
Lost in our own world
In between the sheets
I long to hear your voice
Whispering so sweetly
“Baby don’t stop,
Come back to bed with me”
Chorus
Bridge
So I say I’m, comin’
I’m, runnin’
To where you are
So girl just start your car
And meet me halfway
From the border babe
From the border babe
Of love
Let’s drive away
Never lookin’ back again
Let’s drive away, away
Never lookin’ back again
Chorus
Outro
I’m sending you the letter
444 miles away
The vision of your body
Keeping drivin’ me insane
