Recently added an LG BP620 (3D Blu-Ray player) to my setup that I thrifted at Good Will, brand new, for only $12.99! Released back in 2012 (if I’m not mistaken) it supports both Composite (which I need for this Tv) and HDMI output. So now I’m able to watch VHS-(3D)Blu-ray’s all in on place.
Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well! Just wanted to give you a quick update.
Unfortunately, I had to take a break from major movie reviews this week because I’ve been reorganizing my library and rearranging my apartment. The goal is to set up a makeshift studio for future videos, podcasts, and creative content. It’s all part of building a better infrastructure for my work and ideas, while also gearing up for my birthday—coming up on February 4th!
On top of managing The Year I Became newsletter, I’ve also been working on my secondary newsletter, Pen, Paper, & Heart: Legacy, which focuses on poetry and creative writing. Over the past [year], I’ve been releasing one poem each week from the found poetry collection that began my poetic journey back in 2020.
The very last poem in that collection is coming out next Wednesday, and to celebrate both the completion of the collection—entitled “Life Preservers”—and my birthday, I’m putting together a special PDF of the entire collection. This digital book will include all the poems and visuals in one place, with plans for a physical copy in the future. I’m aiming to launch the PDF on Wednesday, February 5th, so that’s been taking up a good chunk of my time.
Between this project and my day job, things have been a bit tight, but I’m almost done with the collection and can’t wait to share it with you. Regular programming will resume on Sunday with our weekly roundup of my favorite films and where you can watch them. Next week, you can also expect a few movie reviews and podcasts.
Speaking of podcasts, I’ve recorded three episodes already, but since I don’t have internet in my apartment, uploading everything requires a trip to a coffee shop (shoutout to Dunkin Donuts for their Wi-Fi). It’s a bit of a process, but I’m making it work!
Thanks for bearing with me! There’s still so much to come, and I’m excited to share it with you all. Have a wonderful weekend, take care of yourselves, and stay warm if you’re in the northeastern U.S., it’s freezing out there!
Until tomorrow, see you soon!
A-B-C, Always Be Closing!
Hey everyone, welcome back to The Year I Became, a Film Critic! It’s time for this week’s roundup of my favorite films. Whether you’ve seen some of these before or they’re new to you, they’re all definitely worth a watch.
