Fire: A Tale of Love, Fear, and Inspiration
Welcome back, everyone, to part three of our 11-part series, "I Ride Alone: The Rough Cuts." Today, we delve into the third track of the album, "Fire," a song that holds a softer tone yet packs a deeply personal and poignant punch.
"Fire" emerged from a late-night conversation with someone I had come to care deeply about. This person, while having reservations about artists and musicians, questioned the possibility of a genuine, trustworthy connection with me.
I already had the melody lingering in my mind for days, but the right words eluded me until that moment. As we spoke, and she lit a spark to smoke, the pre-chorus miraculously formed in my mind.
Caught in the rush to capture the lyrics, I promised to share my thoughts with her the next day, although the truth unfolded differently. The completion of "Fire" took weeks of reflection and another fortnight to find the perfect moment for recording.
While I never got the chance to share the song with her directly, she unknowingly inspired a piece that brought me to tears, making her the muse behind this emotionally charged track.
Join me on this journey through "Fire," the third track off my album "I Ride Alone," and be sure to return tomorrow for an exploration of the fourth track, "In My Arms."

Lyrics
Verse 1
If I felt like giving up
Would I be here standing at your door, my dear?
The truth is, I’m afraid
That you’ll think of me unworthy to wipe your
Tears away
Prechorus
Because I sing a song
Does that make me a liar?
Because I play guitar
Will I play with you, heart?
Baby, take my hand
And put those thoughts aside
Because our love is on fire
Chorus
When you’re gone, I miss you so bad
I miss the times we shared, oh I miss your laugh
And when you’re home, I’ll run to where you are
And darlin’ I’ll never ever, ever leave you’re side, ‘Cuz
I’m yours 3x
Verse 2
Now I’ve had my fair share of pain
I’ve been on both sides of the fence
I’ve felt heartbreak
Grown’ up, feelin’ lost, broken, and alone
But the fact that I’ve found you
Mean’s the something [good] is goin’ on now
Prechorus
Because I sing a song
Does that make me a liar?
Because I play guitar
Will I play with you, heart?
Baby, take my hand
And put those thoughts aside
Because our love is on fire
Chorus
When you’re gone, I miss you so bad
I miss the times we shared, oh I miss your laugh
And when you’re home, I’ll run to where you are
And darlin’ I’ll never ever, ever leave you’re side
Prechorus
Because I sing a song
Does that make me a liar?
Because I play guitar
Will I play with you, heart?
Baby, take my hand
And put those thoughts aside
Because our love is on fire
Chorus 2x
When you’re gone, I miss you so bad
I miss the times we shared, oh I miss your laugh
And when you’re home, I’ll run to where you are
And darlin’ I’ll never ever, ever leave you’re side, ‘Cuz
I’m yours 3x
Music and Lyrics by Elliot Andrew
"Fire" is not merely a song about love and vulnerability; at its heart, it explores the universal fear of falling in love, the terror of potentially losing it all, and the courage to face these fears head-on.
It's a reflection on the moments that shape us, the connections that define us, and the sparks that ignite our most profound emotions.
