Welcome back to part four of our enlightening 11-part series, "I Ride Alone: The Rough Cuts." Today, we dive into the emotional depths of the fourth track, "In My Arms," a song that marks a significant turning point in my artistic journey.
In My Arms: A Journey Through Vulnerability
"In My Arms" explores the intricate dance between my tumultuous relationship with alcohol and the complexities of casual romance—two themes I had only skirted around previously. Historically, I found myself more absorbed in the realm of music and creativity than in navigating the waters of romance, leading to a natural but cautious approach to connecting with others. In many ways, "In My Arms" serves as a mirror to "Fire," reflecting a reluctant acceptance of transient connections in the life of an artist.
The use of alcohol as a means to "slow down" and foster connections became a double-edged sword. While it momentarily bridged the gap to intimacy, it inevitably led to a loss of control, leaving behind a trail of introspection and a quest for understanding. Now, this song is not a glorification of these experiences but a candid reflection on the challenges and revelations they've brought forth.
As an artist, I've often pondered how these internal battles and revelations would manifest in my music. "In My Arms" poses questions about identity, perception, and the essence of connection—themes that, although not fully explored in this track, signify the beginning of a deeper examination throughout my work. Music has been my sanctuary for expressing thoughts and emotions that elude everyday conversation, albeit at the expense of personal relationships.
Well, without further ado, I present "In My Arms," a poignant exploration inspired by the legendary Johnny Cash. This track not only continues the thematic journey ignited by "Fire" but also offers a glimpse into my personal voyage through love, loss, and self-discovery. Join us tomorrow for part five, "Pilot Joan," as we continue to unravel the stories behind "I Ride Alone."

Lyrics
Verse 1
Late night drinking, party seeking
Clothes are on the, floor
How’d we get here anyhow?
Dark rooms, sweet perfume
I can taste it on my, tongue
(or is it you?)
How’d we get here anyhow?
Prechorus
‘Cuz I’ve been dreamin’ of
A night like this for so long
Chorus
Party anthems (hey)
Drinks in my cup (hey)
Late night dancing (hey)
’Cuz I don’t, I don’t give a
Rat’s ass about your past
Oh baby, no, baby, no
I just need you, right here
In my arms
Verse 2
Come little closer
Let me whisper in your ear
And tell me, baby
is this what you wanna hear?
Bridge
Well how’d we get here anyhow?
Singin’ each other’s names in the bathroom
(We’re we too loud)
Well tell me pretty baby
Do you want more?
Cuz I’ve been dreaming’ of
A night like this
Chorus 2x
Party anthems (hey)
Drinks in my cup (hey)
Late night dancing (hey)
’Cuz I don’t, I don’t give a
Rat’s ass about your past
Oh baby, no, baby, no
I just need you, right here
In my arms
Prechorus 3x
‘Cuz I’ve been dreamin’ of
A night like this for so long
I just need you, right here
In my arms
